Nature camp at pampadumshola national park at EMEA College of Arts and Science, Kondotty
The Bhoomithrasena Club of EMEA College of Arts and Science, Kondotty, in association with the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department, successfully organized a Nature Camp from 21st December 2024 to 24th December 2024 at Pambadum Shola National Park, Vattavada, Idukki.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about biodiversity conservation, forest ecosystems, wildlife protection, and sustainable living practices. A total of 40 students actively participated in the camp, accompanied by faculty coordinators and forest department officials.
During the camp, participants were introduced to the unique shola–grassland ecosystem of Pambadum Shola. The sessions included guided forest treks, bird watching, plant identification, interaction with forest officials, and awareness classes on wildlife conservation and environmental protection. The students learned about the importance of national parks, endangered species, and the role of forests in maintaining ecological balance.
Forest officers and experts from the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department led informative sessions, sharing their field experiences and explaining conservation strategies adopted by the department. The camp also emphasized teamwork, discipline, eco-friendly practices, and responsible tourism.
