Auditing of Existing Waste Management Facilities- Kalamassery municipality at St Pauls College, Kalamassery


The Department of Chemistry and the Bhoomitrasena Club of St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery, jointly conducted an Audit Survey of Waste Management Facilities at the Kalamaserry Municipality Waste Processing Center. The initiative was part of a state-level program led by the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change (DoECC), the Waste-Free New Kerala Campaign Secretariat, and the Local Self-Government Department of Kerala.The survey aimed to evaluate the existing infrastructure and methods used by the municipality for solid waste management, particularly focusing on organic waste. It was conducted at the Premier Junction in the sixth ward, where the waste processing center spanning about 5000 square feet is located.

Faculty coordinators Mr. Texin Joseph and Mrs. Roshini Das guided a team of undergraduate and postgraduate student members of the Bhoomithrasena Club. The team inspected the Material Collection Facility (MCF) and the Resource Regeneration Center (RRC) to understand the operational procedures, infrastructure, and efficiency of the center in handling waste.
