Farm Fresh 2025 at NAIPUNNYA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The Bhoomithrasena Club has taken a commendable step towards promoting sustainable living and environmental awareness through its initiative titled Farm Fresh – Organic Vegetable Garden. This program is conducted regularly every Monday and Thursday from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM in front of the Main Block, making it easily accessible and visible to all students and staff.

The primary objective of this initiative is to encourage the practice of organic farming within the campus and to create awareness about the importance of consuming fresh, chemical-free vegetables. By organizing this activity twice, a week, the club ensures consistent engagement of students in hands-on agricultural practices, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

The organic vegetable garden is maintained by the active participation of Bhoomithrasena Club members along with interested students and faculty. The activities carried out during this time include soil preparation, planting of seeds and saplings, watering, weeding, composting, and harvesting. Special emphasis is given to eco-friendly methods such as the use of natural fertilizers, compost made from biodegradable waste, and avoidance of chemical pesticides. This not only ensures healthy crop production but also promotes environmental sustainability.

The garden, situated in front of the Main Block, serves as a model demonstration unit for organic farming. Its strategic location helps in attracting the attention of passersby, thereby spreading awareness among the wider campus community. Students from different departments often visit the garden, observe the practices, and gain inspiration to adopt similar methods in their homes or communities.

An amount of Rs. 6502/- was utilized for seedlings and fertilizers.

Another significant aspect of the “Farm Fresh” initiative is its role in fostering teamwork and responsibility among students. Participants work collaboratively, share knowledge, and develop a sense of ownership towards maintaining the garden. It also instills values such as patience, discipline, and respect for nature.

The vegetables harvested from the garden are fresh, nutritious, and free from harmful chemicals. These can be utilized within the campus or distributed among participants, reinforcing the idea of self-sufficiency and healthy living. The initiative also highlights the importance of local food production and reduces dependence on externally sourced vegetables.
