Njaru Nadal Ulsavam (Paddy Seed Planting Festival) at BAFAKHY YATHEEM KHANA B.Ed TRAINING COLLEGE, KALPAKANCHERY

Bafakhy Yatheem Khana B.Ed. Training College organized Njaru Nadal Ulsavam (Paddy Seed Planting Festival) as part of its initiative to promote environmental awareness and agricultural sustainability among student teachers. The programme aimed to familiarize students with traditional farming practices and highlight the cultural and ecological significance of paddy cultivation. The festival involved the planting of paddy seedlings in a prepared field with active participation from students and faculty members. The programme emphasized the importance of agriculture, food security, and sustainable living practices. Participants experienced hands-on learning through direct involvement in transplanting paddy seedlings, thereby understanding the labor, skill, and ecological balance involved in farming. As part of the programme, students also visited a local farmer’s vegetable farm. They interacted directly with the farmer and conducted an interview to understand modern and traditional farming techniques, challenges faced by farmers, crop management practices, and sustainable agricultural methods. This interaction provided real-life insights into agricultural livelihoods and strengthened the students’ understanding of the importance of farming in ensuring food security.
