Mushroom Spawn making at Payyanur College
On November 13, 2025, the Bhoomitrasena members successfully conducted a mushroom spawn making activity. During the session, members gained hands-on experience in preparing mushroom spawn, learning the intricacies of substrate preparation, sterilization, and inoculation. With guidance from experienced facilitator Dr Deepamol P C, the members carefully mixed the substrate, sterilized the materials, and inoculated the mushroom spores. The participants showed great enthusiasm and interest in the process, acquiring valuable skills in mushroom cultivation. This activity is expected to empower the members to cultivate mushrooms independently, promoting sustainability and entrepreneurship within the community. The initiative aligns with Bhoomitrasena's mission to foster environmental awareness and sustainable practices among its members.
