DOLPHIN CONSERVATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME

As part of Dolphin Conservation Awareness Activities initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the National Museum of Natural History, Government of India, Department of Natural Science, Bhoomithrasena Club and IQAC conducted different programmes on 30th June 2025. The name of the programme was ‘Eco Blue’. The programme was started with the welcome speech by Akshaya C, student co-ordinator, Bhoomithrasena Club. Later Dolphin Conservation Pledge was taken under the leadership of Mrs. Jomol Jose, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural Science. All staff and students participated.        Then the student co-ordinator, Miss Sonima Krishnan C., has given a talk on Dolphins, different types, food habits, their habitat, pollution, conservation strategies, etc. This session was a highly informative and motivating one.      Later presented a video on Dolphin Conservation Awareness. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Athira N., student co-ordinator, Bhoomithrasena Club. The anchor of the programme was Fathimathul Zuhara M.We also conducted a rally on the theme to conserve all dolphins in both freshwater and marine waters. Through the ‘ECO BLUE’ program conducted as part of the Dolphin Conservation Awareness initiative by the Government of India, the importance of dolphin conservation was effectively communicated to the teacher trainees. It helped instill a sense of responsibility in them regarding the protection of biodiversity. The importance of maintaining the balance of both marine and freshwater ecosystems was well understood by the participants. 50 student teachers, 7 Teacher educators and 13 non-teaching staff participated in this programme. The programme was a successful one due to its diversity and information.
