Nature Camp 2024 at Peechi Wildlife Division at MES Kalladi College Mannarkkad
The Bhoomithrasena Club of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, organized a three-day nature camp at the Peechi Wildlife Division from October 23 to 25, 2024, with the primary aim of fostering awareness about wildlife conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable environmental practices. The camp was attended by 40 students from various disciplines and was escorted by Dr. Ranjini M C, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, and Ms. Shaharban, Assistant Professor (Ad-hoc) in the Department of Mathematics. Upon arrival, the students were introduced to the rich biodiversity of the region and given an overview of the importance of conservation efforts in the Peechi Wildlife Division. Over the next three days, participants engaged in multiple activities, including nature walks, guided tours, and interactive sessions led by forest officials and local conservationists. The group observed a variety of wildlife species, including birds, insects, and small mammals, and learned about their behaviors and roles in the ecosystem. Students were also educated on the impact of human activities on wildlife habitats and the critical need for sustainable forest management. One of the highlights of the camp was a session focused on conservation efforts within the wildlife division, which included discussions on eco-friendly tourism practices, forest restoration, and the challenges of protecting endangered species. The final day featured a reflection session where students shared their experiences and newfound knowledge, expressing their commitment to preserving the environment and taking actionable steps in their own communities. Overall, the nature camp was a rewarding educational experience that significantly enhanced students' understanding of wildlife conservation and their role in promoting environmental sustainability. The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment and strengthened resolve among the participants to contribute actively to the protection of natural habitats and wildlife.
