Pipecompost and Vermicompost at St. Thomas College, Ranni
Waste management started within the campus by collecting plastic waste and handover to Haritha Kerala mission. Every Saturday Bhoomitra sena club members used to clean the campus. They also insist the students to put their food waste into the Pipecompost during working days. Plastic avoiding notices were displayed in every places in the campus. Apart from Pipe compost, Vermicompost Units were also utilised for converting the wastes especially fallen leaves, food waste from Canteen, etc by using earthworms collected from the campus itself with cowdung. The compost harvested is selling to teachers as well as students in the brand name "BioGold"..
