International Day of Forests Celebration 2025 at CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, CHENGANNUR


As part of the International Day of Forests celebrations, the Forest Department organized various programs under the joint auspices of Chengannur Range, the Bhoomithrasena Club of Christian College, and the Zoology Department. The first ceremony was held to pay homage to the decades-old banyan tree that stands at the Christian College junction on M. C. Road, providing shade to everyone. Students and auto-rickshaw drivers garlanded the tree and expressed their love and respect. Subsequently, Range Forest Officer P. K. Rajesh delivered a lecture at the College Seminar Hall on the main theme of this year's celebration, Forests and Food. Later, the college principal Prof. A. Abraham honored the first students of Christian College (V. H. Vishnu and V. H. Jishnu) who received scientific training from the Forest Department on snake rescue as part of the Zero Snakebite Death Kerala project. Additionally, water was arranged in clay pots in various areas with the help of students to provide water for the birds that visit the campus. The week-long program as part of the Forest Day celebrations culminated with the Quiz Contest titled Green Wilderness arranged for the students of Christian College. The winners were provided with water feeders for birds, books and eco-friendly products.
