Field Visit to Ezhome Kaypad Rice Farm at COLLEGE OF APPLIED SCIENCE PAYYANNUR NERUVAMBRAM


Volunteers visited the Ezhome kaypad rice farm to observe and learn about the practical applications of waterlogged agriculture. During the field visit, participants received firsthand exposure to sustainable farming practices unique to Kerala’s traditional wetland ecosystems. Volunteers saw how local farmers skillfully manage water resources and maintain soil fertility. Dr. T. Vanaja shared valuable experiences from her experiments in plant breeding and the development of rice varieties.

The experience effectively bridged theoretical knowledge with real world practice. The visit also enhanced respect for the vital contributions made by the region’s farmers toward food security and environmental sustainability.
