Field Visit to Thenmala at Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy

S.N. College, Chempazhanthy conducted a forest study trip on January 9, 2025, in collaboration with Social Forestry, Government of Kerala. The trip was an enriching experience for the students, providing them with hands-on exposure to forest ecosystems and biodiversity conservation efforts.

 

The trip was led by Dr. Leji, Head of the Department of Zoology , along with faculty members Ms. Preethi S, Dr. Binushma Raju(Coordinator of Bhoomithrasena Club and Dr. Bobina S. A total of 50 students from the various departments of the college participated in this educational excursion. The group was accompanied by four officials from the Social Forestry Department, including a Forest Officer, Forest Guards, and a Watcher, ensuring a well-guided and safe journey.

 

The program included an informative session by the Forest Officer, who emphasized the importance of forests and their biodiversity. The students gained insights into various conservation techniques and the significance of sustainable forest management. This session was followed by an exciting trekking expedition, allowing students to experience the natural habitat up close.

 

The officials from Social Forestry provided lunch and snacks to all participants, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience. After trekking, the students had the opportunity to relax and enjoy a refreshing water bath at Palaruvi, adding a recreational touch to the trip.

 

Overall, the forest study trip was an educational and memorable experience for the students. It provided them with practical exposure to wildlife conservation, forest biodiversity, and ecological balance. The Department of Zoology extends its gratitude to the Social Forestry, Government of Kerala, for their support and guidance in making this trip a success.
