Workshop on Climate Change : Impact, Mitigation and Innovation at Kuriakose Gregorios College


The Post Graduate Department of Zoology, Bhoomithrasena Club and Nature Club, and Institution’s Innovation Council of Kuriakose Gregorios College, Pampady organized a one-day workshop on “Climate Change: Impact, Mitigation and Innovations” on 17th March 2026 at Gregorian Hall starting at 10:30 AM.

Prof. (Dr.) Renny P. Varghese, Principal, inaugurated the event.

The technical session featured talks by Ms. Akhina Mohan V K, Founder, Alarmo Charitable Public Trust, on “The Menace called Climate Change”; Mr. Amos C., Climate Activist, on “The role of youth in Mitigating Climate Change”; and Mr. Adithya Kumar R., Research Scholar, University of Delhi, on “Innovations and Career Prospects in Climate Change”. Ms. Akhina Mohan's talk highlighted the severe consequences of climate change, emphasizing the need for immediate action. Her discussion on current environmental crises sparked interest among participants. Mr. Amos C. stressed the importance of youth involvement in climate initiatives, suggesting practical steps students can take. He inspired attendees to be proactive in environmental conservation efforts. Mr. Adithya Kumar R. explored emerging technologies and career paths in climate science, providing insights into research and job opportunities. His session encouraged students to consider climate action as a viable and impactful career choice. The workshop highlighted the impact of climate change, emphasized the need for mitigation, and explored innovative solutions and career opportunities in climate action, aligning with SDG 13 – Climate Action. By bringing together academic expertise and external experts, the event promoted awareness, discussion, and innovative thinking to combat climate change.
