Cleaning Drive at CPAUP School, Thirazhamkunnu at MES Kalladi College Mannarkkad

On 30th October 2024, the Bhoomithrasena Club of MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, organized a comprehensive cleaning drive at CPAUP School, Thirazhamkunnu, as part of its ongoing mission to promote environmental responsibility and awareness. Under the leadership of coordinators Ms. Naseema M. K. and Ms. Shabna M. K., a team of 25 enthusiastic student volunteers from MES Kalladi College actively participated in the initiative, which sought to instill the values of cleanliness, sustainability, and eco-consciousness among school children. The event began in the morning with students cleaning various areas of the school, including classrooms, the playground, gardens, and common areas, using eco-friendly cleaning tools such as brooms, gloves, and garbage bags. The cleaning activity aimed to improve the physical environment of the school and to set a visible example of civic responsibility and collective effort. A key highlight of the program was an engaging and educative drama performance staged by the college students, which focused on the urgent issue of plastic pollution and the broader challenges of environmental degradation. The drama depicted real-world consequences of plastic waste—such as blocked drainage, polluted landscapes, and threats to wildlife—and effectively emphasized the role of individual choices in environmental conservation. It also encouraged the school students to think critically and suggest practical ways to reduce plastic use in their daily routines, fostering interactive learning and dialogue. The program made a strong impact on the CPAUP School community, inspiring students to adopt eco-friendly habits and actively participate in sustainability efforts. Simultaneously, it offered the MES Kalladi College volunteers a meaningful platform to apply their environmental knowledge and contribute to community welfare. The cleaning drive and awareness campaign thus served as a model for experiential learning, community engagement, and the promotion of sustainable practices at the grassroots level.
