The Department of Botany and Bhoomithrasena Club of Newman College, Thodupuzha, jointly organized a Flower Arrangement Workshop on 30th October 2024. The workshop was aimed at promoting creativity, environmental appreciation, and aesthetic skills among students through the art of floral decoration.

A total of 64 students from various departments enthusiastically participated in the event. The session was led by Sr. Celin, an expert in traditional and contemporary flower arrangement techniques. She demonstrated various styles, including Ikebana (Japanese style), basket arrangements, and tabletop floral designs using eco-friendly and locally available plant materials.

Students actively engaged in hands-on activities, creating their own floral displays. The workshop helped them to understand the importance of flowers in culture, expression, and sustainability. It also emphasized using biodegradable materials and avoiding plastic-based decorations.

Dr. Mariat George, the programme coordinator, ensured the smooth conduct of the workshop. The event was a great success, offering both learning and enjoyment to the participants. It concluded with a display of the students’ creations and a short feedback session, where students expressed their appreciation for the enriching experience.
