REPORT ON WORLD WETLAND DAY CELEBRATION

         The Department of Natural Science of P.K.M. College of Education, Madampam & Bhoomithrasena club organized a programme in connection with World Wetland Day on 6 th February 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall at 9:30 AM. The programme aimed to create awareness about wetland conservation and the importance of protecting these unique ecosystems. The programme commenced with a warm welcome speech by Aryananda. In her address, she emphasized the ecological significance of wetlands and the need for collective responsibility in conserving them. The highlight of the programme was an informative talk delivered by Jameema on the topic Wetland Conservation. She also highlighted the major threats faced by wetlands such as pollution, encroachment, and climate change, and stressed the urgent need for conservation measures. As part of the programme, a quiz competition was conducted to enhance students’ knowledge and awareness about wetlands and environmental protection. Students actively participated with great enthusiasm. In the competition, the First Prize was secured by the Social Science team comprising Sreesha and Ramseena. The Second Prize was won by the Physical Science team represented by Arya Mukundan and Sreya

K.K., while the Third Prize was bagged by the English team consisting of Akshara S. Manohar and Deekshitha. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Rishada. She expressed sincere gratitude to the principal, participants, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
