Training on Cultivation of Oyster Mushroom at Maharaja's College
A Training Programme on the Cultivation of Oyster Mushrooms was conducted on 28 January 2026 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the objective of promoting awareness and practical knowledge of mushroom cultivation as a sustainable and income-generating activity.
The resource person for the programme was Ms. Sreelakshmi Prakash, Botany Alumna (M.Sc. 2019–2021 Batch) and Mushroom Farming Entrepreneur of Prakurthi Mushrooms. During the session, she provided detailed information on the cultivation techniques of oyster mushrooms, including substrate preparation, spawning, maintenance of growth conditions, harvesting methods, and marketing opportunities.
The training included a practical demonstration of the various steps involved in mushroom cultivation, enabling participants to gain hands-on knowledge of the process. The resource person also shared her entrepreneurial experiences and highlighted the potential of mushroom farming as a small-scale business venture. The programme was attended by students and faculty members, who actively participated in the interactive session and clarified their doubts regarding mushroom cultivation. The training successfully enhanced participants' understanding of sustainable agriculture and encouraged them to explore mushroom farming as a livelihood and entrepreneurial opportunity.
