Report on Nature Camp at Munnar

The Department of Botany in association with the Bhoomithrasena Club organized a three-day Nature Camp at Munnar, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and ecological sensitivity among students. A total of 46 students enthusiastically participated in the camp, which was led by Dr. Saju Abraham and Ms. Jaiby Cryiac, who served as coordinators and mentors throughout the program.

The camp was designed to provide hands-on experience with nature, allowing students to explore the rich biodiversity and unique ecosystem of the Western Ghats. Activities included guided treks through Eravikulam National Park, birdwatching, plant identification sessions, and interactive discussions on conservation and sustainability. Students had the opportunity to observe endemic species and understand the ecological significance of protected forest areas.

Environmental experts and forest officials also conducted awareness sessions, helping students gain insights into forest management, the role of biodiversity in climate resilience, and the challenges faced in preserving fragile ecosystems like Munnar. Evenings were filled with group reflections, cultural exchanges, and eco-themed activities.

The camp not only deepened the students' scientific understanding but also instilled a profound respect for nature. It served as a platform for developing environmental stewardship, teamwork, and leadership qualities.

The program was a grand success, fostering a meaningful connection between young minds and the natural world. The Department of Botany and the Bhoomithrasena Club look forward to organizing similar initiatives in the future.
