Low Plastic Life style Campaign at St. Thomas College, Ranni

Inorder to reduce plastic use, a low Plastic life style campaign was initiated by DoECC and UNICEF to promote the alternative use of Plastic. The campaign was for a period of 3 months from December 2025 to March 2026. Through questionare it gave an awareness among the participant students about the use of plastic in their daily life and how to reduce it by using cloth bags, steel bottles, etc during travel, shopping, etc. Through many programmes like Mime, compost unit, Plastic collection inside the campus, used pen collection by pen collection point in each block, notice distribution related to green revolution, etc during the one week plastic free campus programme, gave an awareness to the campus pupils about the ways to reduce plastic in their life. It was really a wonderful experience and promote us to continue using non plastic items in our daily life. Also it made us to interact with Harithakeralam workers, Kudumbasree, NGOs, etc and it was an eye opener about their role in making our places beautiful and remining us to take part in the beautification process.
