Mega Beach Cleaning Campaign at Kadalundi Beach at Korambayil Ahamed Haji Memorial Unity Women's College, Manjeri
On October 2, 2024, a mega beach cleaning campaign was organized at Kadalundi Beach with the active participation of 98 Bhoomithrasena Club members and NSS volunteers from KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Kadalundi Vallikkunnu Community Reserve (KVCR), aiming to enhance environmental cleanliness and promote sustainable practices. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sivadasan P., Chairman of the Community Reserve Management, who emphasized the importance of collective community efforts in environmental conservation.
The volunteers displayed commendable dedication and teamwork as they removed plastic waste, litter, and other debris that affected the natural beauty of the beach. Through systematic collection and segregation, both biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste materials were gathered during the drive. The collected waste was responsibly handed over to the Kadalundi Panchayath for proper disposal, reinforcing the principles of scientific waste management and environmental responsibility.
The initiative not only contributed to restoring the aesthetic appeal of the beach but also strengthened the spirit of service and environmental stewardship among students. By actively engaging in this meaningful activity, the volunteers developed a deeper sense of ownership and accountability toward protecting coastal ecosystems. The programme stood as a testament to the institution’s commitment to sustainability, community collaboration, and civic responsibility.
