The Model Polytechnic College,Vadakara is the brain child of intitute of Human Resources Development ( I H R D ) established by the Govt. of Kerala in the year 1988,whose main objective is to function as a catalyst to foster the growth of electronics ,computer and specialised feilds such as Medical Electronics throw a plethora of innovative endeavours. The main objective of the club is to encourage the college students to appreciate environment.

Activities

  • Planting a tree together with a mother was more than just a simple activity. It was a moment filled with love, care and togetherness. As they placed the sapling into the soil, it felt like they were nurturing not just a plant, but also their bond.
  • The program aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance. The event began with a short introduction highlighting the significance of the day. Participants, including students and volunteers and teachers. The program concluded with a message encouraging everyone to protect nature and contribute towards a greener and cleaner environment. Overall, the activity was meaningful and helped promote environmental responsibility among participants.
  • A vegetable cultivation program was initiated on the campus to promote healthy eating habits and sustainable practices. The aim of the activity was to encourage students to understand the importance of growing their own food and maintaining a green environment. Students and staff actively participated in preparing the soil, planting seeds, and nurturing various vegetables such as spinach, tomatoes, and beans. Organic methods were followed, avoiding the use of harmful chemicals and promoting eco-friendly farming techniques. The cultivated vegetables were later used within the campus, highlighting the benefits of self-sufficiency and fresh produce. Overall, the program was educational and productive, helping students develop responsibility, teamwork, and awareness about sustainable agriculture.
  • Motivate students to explore Indian history especially the independence movement.
  • A herbal garden was established on the campus to promote awareness about the importance of medicinal plants and their uses. The initiative aimed to encourage students to learn about natural remedies and the value of traditional knowledge.Various types of herbs were planted, each with known medicinal benefits. Students and staff actively participated in preparing the land, planting saplings, and maintaining the garden. Informative labels were also placed to help identify the plants and understand their uses.The herbal garden not only enhances the greenery of the campus but also serves as an educational resource. Overall, the initiative was meaningful and helped promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices
